Trapper, my first field knife. Built for heavy-duty use, this knife has an ergonomic thumb-catch on the spine and a buttery, hand-sanded handle finish to make it a joy to use! This beastly blade can serve as a general purpose camping knife, and the classic drop-point tip also makes it ideal for field-dressing game. The blade is complemented by a stunning piece of maple burl on the handle that boasts a natural, camouflage-like appearance, striking vertical striations, and vein-like black spalting that resembles a map. The dark spalting veins are actually the result of natural fungal growth in the wood prior to harvesting. Rest assured, the wood has undergone a specialized process called stabilization that eliminates any live fungus and enhances its properties, making the handle water-resistant, rot-resistant, and durable.

For those unfamiliar with the plant, it's nature's own trapper, a carnivorous pitcher plant. Found in nutrient-poor bogs ranging from the southeastern United States to Canada, these plants acquire nutrients by capturing insects in their long tubes. The plant shown in the photos are not included with the knife.
